System Offers Remote Visibility and Control of Grain Temps in Bins and Surface Piles
GEAPS Exchange Booth #1801
St. Louis, M.O., February 21, 2015 – Lakeland Grain will be showing its new all-in-one wireless Grain Management System at GEAPS Exchange this week. The system monitors conditions and temperatures across a facility’s grain piles and bins, and provides holistic, streamlined reporting to a web interface. Facility personnel can easily access real-time data locally or remotely via any mobile device, offering the opportunity to prevent spoilage.
“Previously, grain facility managers had to log-in to each bunker separately to view data on grain condition and temperature,” said Dustin Paloranta, Vice President at Lakeland. “The new system lets our customers streamline data onto one convenient interface, providing peace of mind - no matter their grain storage environment.”
If a bin cable reaches high temperatures, the UL Certified system automatically flags the issue, allowing the handler to immediately troubleshoot proven hot spots rather than waste time on unnecessary grain turning and guesswork. The system also tracks historical trends to provide feedback on grain sustainability and ensures sensor health by monitoring resistance values of thermocouples.
The Lakeland Grain Management System combines advanced features of two Lakeland systems into one integrated and user-friendly platform:
- Lakeland’s Ground Pile Management system is a modular solution that provides grain handlers with up to date grain temperatures, CO2 levels and fan control
- BusMux Pro HD is a thermocouple multiplexer that provides intrinsically safe circuitry suitable for use in Class I, II and II and groups A-G hazardous environments
The new all-in-one system introduces wireless capabilities and customizable email alerts to make bin monitoring accessible from anywhere, anytime. GEAPS Exchange attendees can demo the system at the Lakeland Companies’ booth.
Attendees also have the opportunity to hear from Paloranta during Sunday’s “What’s New” session from 10:30-12:00 p.m., and Mark Spindler, Chief Technology Officer at Lakeland, during the Expo Pods. Spindler will present on hazard monitoring on Monday, Feb. 23 at 10:30 a.m.
