Gregg Phelps oversees the Lakeland Companies’ engineering, manufacturing and software business units and also serves as a member of the Lakeland Companies Executive Leadership Team. Gregg brings 20 years of experience in engineering and operations with the company.
As COO, Gregg oversees operations at Extron, Control Assemblies Co., Delta Fabricating, Railway Equipment Co., Machine Assemblies Co. (MAC), and RRAMAC. A primary focus has been to better integrate the capabilities and skills of the more than 250 employees across those business units – including engineers, software developers, technicians, fabricators and welders – to enable Lakeland to better fulfill its promise to be a complete partner for its customers. For example, the company has been able to translate its propane tank monitoring expertise from Railway Equipment Co. to new systems such as the Extron Ground Pile Remote Monitoring System for the agriculture industry.
Gregg joined Lakeland in 1992 as a control systems engineer for Control Assemblies and subsequently launched that business unit’s OEM division. In 2000, he was named the head of Machine Assemblies, and in 2004 he also become vice president and general manager for Railway Equipment Co. He launched RRAMAC, which provide remote asset management and control solutions, in 2008.
A native of Minnesota, Gregg received his B.S. degree in electronic engineering technology from Mankato State University (now Minnesota State at Mankato). He is a member of the Enterprise Minnesota Peer Council working with executives at other Minnesota manufacturing companies to improve their businesses. He is on the board of directors for the Aquajets Swim Team and lives in Plymouth, Minn.
